not the most exciting New Years Eve to most people but for us it was perfect. Jason and I went to an early dinner while Grandpa babysat the boys for a little while, and when we got home Peyton and Jayden got to make a New Years wish with a cupcake.

believe it or not we have never had an actual ‘playdate’…. we have had parties and met up at gymboree before but never ‘Hey can your child come play at our house’ kind of playdate. sounds awful I guess, but honestly Peyton and Jayden play so well together we never really thought about inviting anyone over just to play, until now! Peyton’s friend, Payne has been talking to Peyton about a playdate so we thought we would have him over during Christmas break. we walked to the park after playing at our house a little while. they had a lot of fun!

I set up the new art easel in the kitchen and told the boys to paint a surprise for each other…. they couldn’t show each other what they were painting until they were done.
Peyton and Jayden were surprised to find out they both painted the same thing…. a red Angry Bird!
the leaves at my parent’s house were out of control today! while Jason was trying to rake them up, the boys were jumping in them….
Jayden loves playing by their shed and with their old toys!
Bunny’s koi fish are getting huge!
while Peyton was inside playing ‘Golden Tee’ with Poppy, Jayden was outside helping Jason bag leaves.
and when we got home Peyton and Jayden went through the recycle bin and made their own bow & arrow shooting range.
Peyton ran into our room about 6:30 this morning whispering ‘Mommy, Daddy, I think Santa was here! I saw a whole bunch of stuff!’ we let him lay down with us to wait on Jayden to wake up but it didn’t work. he was so excited, we told him he could wake Jayden up and then come back into our room. he went into Jayden’s room and all we heard through the monitor was ‘Jayden Santa was here!’ They both ran back into our room and jumped on the bed with us. honestly I think that is my favorite part of Christmas morning every year, the excitement in their voices and the anticipation of running into the living room to see everything!

then they went back to their gifts and the craziness started!

we got dressed and ready for Bunny, Poppy, and Grandpa to come over. Peyton just HAD to wear the same shirt he slept in and both boys wore their new cowboy boots!

Peyton and Jayden were excited it was Christmas Eve, and that each of them got emails from Santa this morning. (they were sent from The Portable North Pole.)
we video taped them watching Santa. it was so great to see their faces! after they watched their message from Santa they wanted to see themselves on video….
the rest of the day we just hung out at home and got a few last things done for Christmas. we went to the 2:30 Christmas Eve service at church.
I had my ipod touch with me during the service and managed to get these pictures of the boys singing Silent Night. it was a great service! all of us LOVED it!
when we got home from church Peyton and Jayden found gifts under the tree from Elfafin.
new pajamas and the movie Home Alone! (ugh I am SO BAD at indoor pictures, but I love these anyway!)
then it was time to make cookies for Santa! (and a glass of wine for Mommy!)
Peyton and Jayden also showed Grandpa their Santa video tonight…. Peyton was so nervous he was going to go from the Nice List to the Naughty List. it was so funny watching him!
finally it was time to put out the reindeer food!
apparently both of them had a plan of HOW the food and carrots were supposed to be laid out.
I love how Jayden lined up the carrots…. he lines things up around the house all the time!
before bed Jason read The Night Before Christmas….. the boys were exhausted which made it easy for Santa to get things done around the house! I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
Peyton and Jayden were being especially cute today so I thought I would take advantage and take a few pictures of them. I am HORRIBLE at indoor pictures but I thought I would try anyway. the boys made it easy!
I will smooth out the backdrop in this next picture if I have it printed…. Also, in the others I photoshopped more lights in and the cord out.
we let the boys make cookies by themselves today…. it went great and the boys had a lot of fun. I love how much they helped each other!
after watching the cookies bake, the boys took their bath, then got to decorate the cookies.
Jayden worked so hard on his cross cookie…. all of them turned out beautiful!

the elementary school behind our house has Santa fly in on a helicopter every year and flies right over our house to get there. I called a good friend of mine, Katie who’s son goes to the school, to see what time Santa would be arriving. she met Jayden and I at our back gate to walk over with us. (Katie’s son Jude went to speech with Peyton last year). We love their family!
we got to visit a little before Santa flew in. we also had time to find Jude in the crowd of kids.
Here comes Santa! everyone was so excited!
we also saw Mrs. Clause, Rudolph, and Frosty…. and our old speech teacher Mrs. Yakas and her son!
then Jayden and I had to rush over to Peyton’s school to pick him up. he had a half day today! It’s time for Christmas Vacation!
