A few days after Thanksgiving (yes I am behind on my blog!) we took a little road trip to Roanoke to look for materials Jason will need to make a fish pond in our backyard. While we were there we thought we would stop by Babes restaurant. We had heard about it on tv and through friends, but had never been there before. It is located in such a cute little town! It was a fun trip for all of us, and the food was really good!

I have been so horrible at keeping up with my pictures lately that I totally forgot about the photos I take with my ipod touch, even though I use it almost every day! It is so easy to carry around when we are out and about! these are a few I seemed to have overlooked from the past few weeks or so.

Enjoy!

today is the day

Saturday, November 26th, 2011

We started going to church together as a family about a year ago, and at the time Jason and I we’re nervous about attending, but both of us felt a need for it as well as wanting it for our boys. So we thought ‘Ok we will visit this church. It’s close to home and it will be good for all of us.’ So off to church we went not knowing how much it was going to change our lives, our family, and us as a couple. After just a few services we started to realize what a difference it had made in both of us and felt it was something we not only loved, but really looked forward to every week, and we were thrilled to see how much Peyton and Jayden loved it as well.

As the year passed we started realizing how MUCH we really loved our church and all of the people there. We started to feel a bigger need for knowing and wanting to be closer to God…. and the boys have endless questions almost every day about Heaven and Jesus. Jason even went on his first mission trip this year! After seeing so many lives change at church, through testimony and baptism, Jason and I started talking about getting baptized together. It has been an amazing experience for all of us and it just kept growing!

Jason and I knew we wanted to be baptized before the year was over. We talked about it a lot but just weren’t sure WHEN we would do it, but it all came together once we found out my brother and sister-in-law were coming in town for Thanksgiving. We talked to one of our favorite pastors and finally started making plans to get baptized together! We told our family & friends and found out my cousin Callie was getting baptized as well!

I can not explain how excited I was for this day to get here! We arrived to church early so we could change in to our robes and take a few pictures. I was so relieved and thankful for the people who took control of the pictures and video for us. It was an AMAZING day!

A few pictures before we went to change. The boys saw us get baptized and from what I understand they were REALLY excited to see it!

it’s been forever since we had a good doughnut, so after running to a few stores today we stopped in Krispy Kreme for a snack. it amazes me no matter where we are the boys always seem to find time to make new friend.

when Peyton was 3, (and Jayden was 1) we started ‘The Elf On the Shelf’. Peyton was barely talking and called our Elf, Elfafin. the name stuck and now both boys are THRILLED when Elfafin shows up every year.

he appeared in one of our Christmas trees the day after Thanksgiving…. and the fun begins!

we decided to put our Christmas tree up a little earlier this year. we usually put it up on Thanksgiving or the day before, but since we are having company come in town we decided to get started a few days earlier. the boys always love when Jason climbs up into the attic for all of the Christmas decorations. we are always surprised by how much stuff we have! it has definitely grown over the years!

Peyton and Jayden did most of the decorating. all of us loved seeing all of the old ornaments. my favorite are the handmade ones!
